A contemporary illustration of the cycladic marble figures known as ”idols” or “figurines”

These marble figurines were seen scattered around the Aegean, dating aprx.2500 BC. The majority of them were highly stylized representations of the female human form, typically having a flat geometric shape. Archeological evidence suggests that they were regularly used in funerary practice, since most of them  have been found in graves.
